INTERVIEW WITH CHOREOGRAPHER KIRSCHE DICKSON
Kirsche Dickson has always danced. Growing up in Austin in the 1980s, she loved dancing to live music at the outdoor concerts she often attended with her family. Encouraged by artistic parents, she learned to take the play of collaborative dance improvisation very seriously. She has been inspired by dancing that blurs the boundaries between art, healing, spirituality, activism, and community building.
Kirsche is so grateful to Darla Johnson for creating this public space for rigorous dance study that honors and nourishes the whole person, which thereby the dancing community and the world beyond. Kirsche holds a Ph.D. in Dance History and Theory and is a practicing licensed massage therapist in Austin at The Ace of Cups and in private practice. She is a third year trainee in the Feldenkrais method and just beginning a program in dance and movement therapy through Embodied Neurobiology.
