Interview with Choreographer Andraya Leah Genskow

Andraya Leah Genskow, age 23, first moved to Austin when she was 12 years old after living on a farm in Mustang Ridge, Texas. She danced at Reagan High School and attended a summer dance camp team as well. Inspiration for this dance comes from within as she loves the empowering freedom of movement and her own, unique, creations.
Also, she is inspired by many other performers such as: Jojo Gomez, Ashley Everett, Chris Grant, Early Aliya Janell and the queen Bey herself, Beyonce.
Andraya is currently a Music Business, Performance and Technology major; she plans to pursue her career as an R&B/Pop singer under the alias of Leah BouvĂer. Combining her passion for dance and ambitions as an artist, Andraya’s piece is centered around her own song “Woke One” that will be debuting on her very first EP entitled “I Contact,” which will be available on all streaming platforms February of 2020. Andraya says, “When I put dancing with singing, I feel unstoppable; there’s not a soul on Earth that would be able to overlook me.” She hopes her piece will urge others to look inwardly on themselves and find the confidence to display who they really are to the public, rather than hiding it away. To her, being able to dance and sing in her own creation means that she can completely and wholeheartedly self-create anything she puts her mind to! Her message to the audience is “Be confident in what you like/love.” You can find her on Twitter: @LeahBouvier and Instagram: @leahbouvier_
