Interview with Choreographer Kayur Patel
He is currently taking whatever classes he wants to take. He already attended ACC before and got his Associates Degree. He is really into healing through movement and conversation and is focused on emotional and psychological healing. He plans on spreading healing through art with other forms of art to make it more encompassing. He has been dancing since he was four. It is his way to be free and to be himself. He doesn’t really have a favorite style. He started with Indian Folk and moved to Bollywood, hip hop, contemporary and modern. The amount of talent and diversity and the learning opportunities is what he enjoys most about being a Dance student at ACC. He prefers choreographing more than performing because it is easier for him to be creative as an artist. He doesn’t really have a specific process because he hasn’t choreographed that much but he tends to choreograph according to the flow of energy through the space. His inspiration for his was based on personal experience and a story that he wrote. This piece will be unfinished for the showcase and will be completed in February for Frontera Fest.
