INTERVIEW WITH CHOREOGRAPHER HALLI CROW

Halli Crow is a second semester ACC Dance student working to get her associates degree in dance. She started dancing at the age of 8 years old, taking jazz and hip hop classes twice a week. After discovering the love she had for dance, she eventually joined the competition dance team at her studio. When she got to high school she also joined her school's color guard and drill team. She has made so many fun memories already in her dance career since starting ACC and is excited to continue doing what she loves in the spring semester.

Outside the Box is a dance created to express the feeling of being trapped in your own personal box where you don’t grow and don’t try new things. This piece shows the evolution of putting yourself in a box, getting to the point where you realize you’ve done this to yourself, and the freedom and fear you can feel while breaking out and trying on new things that you may not have tried before. It also shows the discomfort and confusion you might feel while trying new things that you may not be completely comfortable with.
