INTERVIEW WITH CHOREOGRAPHER BRIAN ELLIS
Brian Ellis is a Dance Major at ACC and a local artist studying psychology, music, and dance. While taking the choreography composition class, he feels that he has taken steps to improve his career by learning how to create movement to accompany his music and gained firsthand experience as a performer. The title of Brian’s piece, “Hyper Space,” is a visually abstract production inspired by the development of friendship. The style of music is influenced by the artist Hatsune Miku, and the dance is about embodying the transformation of a galaxy. For Brian, the process of choreographing proved to be both fun and challenging in exploring new aesthetics through the interpretation of themes. In choreographing this piece, he hopes that the audience will feel good about the kind of life they are living and have an impact on what we define as community.
